What is a zonescape? It's that part of space-time that holds all the universes within it. It's quite a space; impossible to navigate in 3D space-time. But it is possible to do so in 5D space-time. Not only that but the Sols are there, creators of universes. And the Actiga, their bitter opponents fighting against them through 5D space-time, are determined to take their revenge on their corporeal creations in 3D space-time every chance they get for being imprisoned by the Sols.
To police them the Sols have raised up many, many races covering all space-time governed by their Surriahs, the guardians of 5D space-time and the link to corporeal kind.
To each race is assigned one carrier of a very special implant endowed with incredible powers that can interface with 5D space-time and 3D space-time when connected into the vast Universicum network. The solar system of Annellis features very highly for the Actiga: it is a pivotal system in a pivotal universe with branches into many others. They have to be stopped here. Kalim Ovadia is one of them yet doesn't know it. Worse still, his implant has malfunctioned. The road back is hard and long and he has to come to terms with some dark truths about himself if he is ever to become the person the Surriahs hope for. And the personal stakes in his case drive him on relentlessly from the first page of the first novel until the last page of the last in the series. In fact if it wasn't for the women in his life, he'd never make it at all.
The Surriah Protocol - A story of tough luck, tough choices and restoration.
Annellis Falling - A story of redemption, and revenge
The Actiga Storm - A story of salvation, understanding and overcoming phenomenal odds.
The Infinity Gene -The brutal finale - the final conflict; when all things collide universally on a massive scale above, on and under an obscure super-sized water world.
The series can best be described as a sci-fi action/adventure. It's also a romance, a saga, and interlocks a number of sad and heartwarming stories: Jenaya trying to get her husband back; Princess Shebara trying to redeem her family's honor; Kalim looking for revenge and answers and hopes to find a daughter he has never seen who was raised by his bitter enemy, Meles Gleszich. Oshu D'Casso is the maverick agent entrusted with a secret that could make or break his best friend. Even an androzoid super-machine has a story to tell and a destiny to fulfill. And they all have good reason to risk everything for the sake of their solar system, their universe and their zonescape. Put simply: the Actiga do not take prisoners, they absorb them.
The Surriah Protocol
Nothing surprises the Prolixxian Order more than when they receive the Surriah Protocol - a directive to recall and reactivate former agent, Kalim Ovadia - at all costs. The survival of a universe depends on it. Sounds easy enough. Not easy at all. Kalim was retired after the alien device in his head malfunctioned and all knowledge of the Prolixxian Order and his former life is blocked. He has no memory of it. He should have lived in obscurity, grown old and died. It doesn't quite work out that way. He loses his wife and child, and his employer uses his head as a data bank to steal vital information to control a power array being built above planet Pira. Then he is convicted and sentenced to a mind wipe convinced he could have done that. So much of what he was is gone. But the retrieval fails forcing a conspiracy to banished him to the toughest, roughest penal institute on the planet to hide him away where they can work on him. He escapes with Prolixxian help to turn the tables on his persecutors. Planet Pira is the key to keeping the solar system together just a little longer. Trouble is the Pirans don't like invaders and will do everything they can to resist it being built above them while others would use the same situation to glean recruits for private armies. Pira is at melting point. It could go either way. Kalim's first mission back is to win the peace - if he can hold it together, if the device doesn't malfunction again, and if Falco Jirat doesn't succeed in tracking him down. Restoring Kalim has been tried before - with devastating consequences. The Surriahs are watching which way this goes.
All the downstairs windows crashed through collectively. Moments later the whole area was lit up as bright as day from outside the building half blinding us. There were shouts and half a dozen shots. Heavy footsteps were heard charging up the wooden stairs straight at us.
'Stand close to me,' Tarizaa insisted.
A hazy beam formed around us like a bubble. Everything that entered it slowed down to a crawl; light took longer to arc, carried on pointing in the direction last pointed within the bubble. Then all the windows on the second storey blew in too and the third. The debris hit the surface of the bubble at speed then slowed. Tarizaa did some additional adjustments further slowing the tiny shards within the bubble until they stopped completely, hanging motionless in the air. Then the troops running at us met the same fate, as if frozen in time.
The whole of each solider seemed to step into the surface and then stepped out of the inside of the bubble into our area at an imperceptibly slow rate like passing through a curtain, or diving into water, entering it far slower than the dive. Conversely, those exiting the bubble accelerated away from it leaving copies of their own bodies behind within it slowly catching up as they exited.
'They're gone!' one of them exclaimed.
Annellis Falling
Picks up from the aftermath of Pira. Now Ovadia gets the chance to go after the root of the conspiracy itself, enabled and empowered. He goes deep under cover as Sony Endarca, a desert station officer working on Pira, and gets recruited to help the conspiracy. He finds himself in the outer rim in the thick of the action - ably assisted by Jenaya and Oshu - and working hard against the conspiracy from within. Sera of the Special Intelligence Corps has her man inside as well. This is their one chance to turn the tables on them and use all that valuable knowledge inside his head to go on the offensive before Meles Gleszich sends all of Annellis into war. He's racing into the inner zone of worlds from the outer with Gleszich inside an ex-war device from the Black Knight Wars - a planet killer - and doing his best to disable it in time before rival fleets come to blows taking Annellis into total war.
This is the business end of the Prolixxian Order; ghosts in the machine; a subtle and devious breed in their dealings, even with their own. But have the Prolixxian Order been too clever? Or have they met their match in Meles Gleszich?
Once inside, we could see through the haze of heat distortion that several machines were working tirelessly to fix breaches while others contained fires. These were the 101s; mean machines. It didn't take a stretch to assume if they could work in this Pira would be a pushover. Machines being what they are they were not as flexible as people. We soon arrived at the first awkward-to-reach trouble spot located high in a conduit serviced by a thin buckled ladder.
'Secure a line at the top. I'll tie off a bag so you can haul it up,' she said. Tarizaa's enhancements worked a treat. I did my best to make it look challenging though so she wouldn't get suspicious. Kuczyk joined me at the top. We had a good view of the various areas up here and the spaces below. The room was full of conduits and giant tanks. A narrow service walkway wound around the whole section passing through gaps in piping, between blocks and around tanks just wide enough to negotiate with care.
To my growing consternation five hours passed without opportunity for sabotage. But at least I was getting a handle on how the thing was put together. That made it easier to figure out how to break it. In all that time she'd watched me like a hawk, fixing conduits, boards, breakers and fire damage, and had accompanied me back to the citadel twice to replenish tanks.
Everything Dallah feared has come to pass. The stakes just got a lot higher. Now all the planets of Annellis are on the line, thanks to the real power behind this conspiracy, the Actiga - 5D entities leaching from behind the Universicum Nexus - billions of interlocked devices - that has imprisoned them and looking for revenge against their former masters by attacking their offspring in 3D space-time. Now they are in Annellis and even the Prolixxian Order are struggling to contain them. Gleszich blows them all the most treacherous goodbye kiss in history practically gifting Annellis to the Actiga. Ovadia and team have to go after him to stop it all happening again and find a way to save the solar system they've left behind from being turned into Swiss cheese by the Actiga - if only they can find the Sols in time.
Leader Jurgen is convinced Gleszich is dead. Others are not so sure. Strange things are happening in the Annellis Belt. Ships are disappearing. Bizarre things are happening that defy explanation. And then the intentions of the Actiga become a lot clearer and visual as they turn on Annellis with a vengeance; hurtling toward their sun - Annellis Prime. And find as it happens they have one other little trick in their arsenal that makes them unstoppable.
‘It’s a cesspit,’ Shebara growled, used to more royal surrounds than this.
‘Majority rule,’ Boomer said pointing out the men.
'There’s no need to be like that, children. What say you men pump all that spare testosterone into getting our stores back tomorrow,' Jenaya suggested, 'while we girls put up a few home comforts here at camp without you men messing up the place.'
Shebara glared. 'I do NOT do menial chores.'
'Of course you do. And while they're away, Shebara, we can get a nice, refreshing bath,' she exclaimed. Shebara brightened. A bath! No men! Bliss! Then Boomer rather wrecked the moment when he drew his weapon and discharged it twice into the frying remains on maximum setting dousing Shebara head to toe in green puss. Echoes of gunfire boomed back off the surrounding mountains from stanzas away, repeating back for several seconds like thunderclaps, the only interruption to the stunned gathering. Boomer caught Shebara's murderous glare.
‘Did I say you’d fail the first test of Piran manhood?' Slinger chastised. 'Man, you didn’t even make it to zero.’
‘It moved,’ Boomer protested.
‘It moved,’ Boomer protested.
'You could have warned us!' Oshu scowled holding his eardrum with one hand, throwing down what was left of his plate’s contents with the other.
‘If I had not sworn a blood oath you would be a dead man by now!’ Shebara screamed. She had the knives out too ready to put Boomer on the menu. ‘And what’s this I heard about testing for Piran manhood?’
‘Nothing,’ Slinger said nervously, and raised his hands in submission.
Boomer ignored the knives and stared at the bubbling pan waiting for something else to flinch. It didn't. 'Now it’s dead,' he said.
'Everyone calm a little, if you please. We'll pack your things at first light,' Jenaya offered.
‘I’ll help,’ Shebara said urgently. She packed Boomer's first there and then.

The Infinity Gene
A rejuvenated Gleszich replete with a few body parts finds himself ruler of another solar system with help from the Actiga. But the aim to collect and Gleszich is worried about that. Ovadia is finally the man the Sols intended him to be, and he and his team finally catches up with Gleszich ready to finish what they started. The implant in his head is fully healed. He has a full connection with the Universicum Nexus and ready to take the fight directly to the Actiga head on with his team by his side. And only now does he finally get what it has all been about. The mighty Actiga are about to meet their match, with Jenaya and Shebara by his side - two very feisty women with skills. And with the help of the brave Sede freedom fighters of Passedera, and Dallah - who finally reveals what she is and how the Sols had fallen. Now Ovadia is about to take the fight to a whole new level in this, the final part of this series. He learns its not just about one universe. It's about all of them surviving the Actiga onslaught. They have to be stopped here by Dallah and Kalim together. Or this zonescape suffers the fate of myriads of others.
The final part of this series unites Kalim and team with the Sede, freedom fighters of Passedera who form the pivotal place in the 5D Surriah response to the Actiga incursion into 3D space-time - the place where the edge of the rift meets. It has to be closed. But has Kalim misjudged his powers as he takes on almost Messianic powers? And more importantly, given his previous failure, when the implant failed, under this kind of pressure will it be enough even with the Surriahs by his side?
Excerpt:
A massive crane picked up one of the containers and slotted it onto an industrial mover to join the others on a moving rack. They were taking absolutely no chances with them. We picked our moment then slid down below the service ramps under freezing pipes.
'Colder,' Oshu said giving them a pat.
Several containers were rolling by under us. Jenaya caught a woman's attention beneath the grid when a container stopped with its top open. She had a pre-adolescent child with her. For a second we wondered if she would cry out when Jenaya got low enough with her face to the grill so she could be seen by them. At first the woman was startled, scared, then hopeful, reaching up. Jenaya reached for her.
‘I can’t reach you. I can take the child.’
Jenaya pitied her. The woman’s clothes were so dirty as to be indistinguishable from cleaning rags used to mop a spillage, and the child was little better. The stench from the packed container full of Sede was nauseating.
‘Pass the child up,’ Jenaya pleaded.
She looked at those around her almost pleading for them to help.
‘The child!’ Jenaya repeated as things began to rattle.
A mechanism cranked and it started to move again. Jenaya moved with it, following it, reaching down.
‘Come on! Get her up here! Let me help you!’ she hissed. The others quickly agreed the fate of one outside the container was better than all within it. Many hands lifted her up towards Jenaya. Little hands grasped for air egged on by her mother.
'He's building a city that moves by itself,' her mother hissed in Capan. Jenaya nodded she'd heard and understood, still reaching for the little girl’s hands. It wasn’t the easiest of tasks getting a hold of her. Larger men pressed through to help with the task, skin and bone themselves.
‘Just a little further…’
'Help us!' she pleaded.
Her voice was trembling, low, and her eyes darted up and to the container door. A sudden jolt had knocked the man holding her up and the little girl had slipped back. The container was still moving and Jenaya was doing her best to track the movement on her stomach, still reaching down.
‘Further! Please! I can’t reach…’
It was too late for that. The hole closed suddenly and from that point on it was covered over with wide square grid structure barely thick enough to stick a thumb in.
‘No,’ said Jenaya, her fingers embedded into the grill.
'Tell the Virs. We are dying by the thousands!' the woman called after her. The container roof closed over the top with a clang sealing them in.
